Safeguarding at Liverpool Progressive School is central to all that we do. All staff are trained in safeguarding, and more recently the new implementation the Department of education ‘keeping children safe in education’ (SEPT 2016) document. The senior team work closely with the Local Authorities and have further training in safeguarding.

All areas within safeguarding are integrated within the curriculum at the appropriate level and language of each individual we teach at LPS. these include:

  • Internet safety
  • Anti-bullying
  • CSE (if appropriate)
  • Prevent and radicalisation
  • FGM (if appropriate)
  • Risk assessments
  • Alongside fundamental safeguarding issues our young people may experience in their live.

Monitoring the school is an important part of any safeguarding. Fortunately we have a very active Governance that visit the school regularly alongside myself. The Governance team will monitor the school in a variety of ways including:

  • Safeguarding audits
  • Safeguarding learning walks
  • Interviews with staff and peers.
  • Parental conversations
  • Observations

My job as Head of Education is to make sure all staff and students are happy and safe in LPS. If this is the case we know we have a more effective learning environment which will allow all students to progress.
