Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Provision
Etc. Therapy work with Liverpool Progressive School on a weekly basis to provide highly specialist and consistent speech, language and communication therapy to meet the individualised needs of the young people.
Laura is a highly specialist qualified speech and language therapist with 15 years’ specialist experience working in the field of ASC, SEN, learning difficulties and challenging behavior. Her extensive post graduate training including; PECS, TEACCH, SCERTS, Intensive Interaction, LAMP approach (AAC), sensory strategies, positive behavior support and MA in ASC promotes the use of a wide range of approaches and therapy interventions to promote communication and independence.
Etc. Therapy provides speech and language therapy input working as a part of staff teams, identifying communication needs of young people and supporting staff to implement appropriate strategies and approaches.
Input is provided by working with young people and staff during everyday activities to ensure effective implementation and generalisation of communication skills in real life situations.
Specialist and individualised assessment of receptive and expressive language, functional communication and social interaction skills are completed in order to provide support for target setting, behaviour plans, briefings and reviews.
Working in this truly integrated way ensures the increased use of communication approaches to develop functional communication and social interaction skills for all young people, which can have a positive impact on behaviour, engagement, learning and relationships with others.
Etc. Therapy aims to work with services to provide truly integrated, individualised and effective speech and language therapy input that meets the needs of young people, supports the staff and services and enables total communication and positive outcomes for all.
